06.30.08Sunroof
General (1)I love my sunroof... I don't think Mal has ever used hers. I have mine open as much as possible... sometimes I love the fact that I drive so much. (More than 3600 miles this month even with a week of sitting in the airport parking lot) Anybody else have one, but not use it? (I'm still talking about sunroofs)

06.27.08Sigh
General (0)I wish something would go according to plan with this new house... It took forever to put the cabinets in because the walls are not straight or plumb. We broke one countertop while trying to install them and then one warped when we tightened the miter bolts. The floor was slow and tedious... Now, after things were finally starting to shape up, I wheel the dryer in to the house so I can do some laundry and it won't turn on. The cord is plugged in, everything appears to be on in the breaker panel... nothing. Sigh...

06.25.08King of the Castle
House (1)Max seems to be enjoying the new house. He likes to sleep in any window sill... and on our bed... and on top of every box... and also in the bathtub of one of the bathrooms. I came out the other night and found him sprawled out on top of the newly installed countertop. That's going to have to stop soon... I don't really want cat hair all over my kitchen.

06.25.08Progress
General (1)The kitchen is finally staring to look like a kitchen. I don't think there is a plumb, straight or square line anywhere in the house... so getting the cabinets to line up right was a bit of a pain. The floor gave us some little challenges, but John and I got most of it down last night. Once I get some baseboard trim in place we should be able to roll the appliances in. We are still waiting on the sink we ordered to come in... then we have to pick out a faucet. All of the new appliances are in, they just ...

06.23.08Happy Birthday, Mal!
General (4)Happy Birthday to my amazing wife, Mallory. She is kind of bummed that she has to work all day and go to class all night on her birthday... which sucks, because I was ready to pull out all the stops and take her to Hardee's for a romantic dinner of greasy Thickburgers. Oh well. Happy Birthday, babe!

06.18.08Lost Soles - 06/13
General, Lost Soles (0)I've been really bad about looking for my lost soles photos... but I found a pair of sandals that looked like they had been run over by a bus a few times right outside of Treasure Island on the strip in Las Vegas last Friday... I was so busy editing photos while I was in vegas I never got around to updating with some other things that I wanted. Oops. So I have a feeling July will be a bunch of random stuff from April and May. Oh well...

06.18.08Speedy Work
General, House (0)I went to the house last night ready to get to work on some drywall... but John and Carl had already finished. I am truly thankful to have people around that are 8.5 million times more competent than me. If it was just me I'd still be trying to figure out how to open the bucket with the drywall mud in it. I picked up the floor today... it seems weird knowing that there is enough flooring in the back of my car to cover two rooms of our house. General (1)Mal and I have started packing our stuff to move to the new house... Max crawled into this box in the living room to make sure it was suitable for personal belongings. I thought about sealing it up and storing him in the garage, but I kind of need the box for other things.

06.17.08Life As a Homeowner
House (3)Our kitchen remodel is coming along nicely... All of the drywall was ripped off before I got back from vacation, so I didn't get to do any fun demolition. Sunday we ran new wiring and put in a few new outlets. Yesterday I cleaned all of the little chunks of the old drywall out of the cracks and corners and patched a big hole in the wall where a little pass-through/shelf thingy used to be. We started putting up drywall this morning. I had to leave around 11 a.m. for a noon assignment. Not a big deal... I can't complain about having to ...
