I went up to my mom’s house yesterday to spend some time with the family for Mother’s Day. I made some lunch for everybody and then we piled into the car and went to the boardwalk on Lake Vermilion for a while. I love that place.
It was good to see everyone and relax for a few hours before my six-week long whirlwind of state finals, home closing, kitchen renovation, moving and weddings across the country. The only thing that would make these next couple of months complete is if my wife has some kind of freak pregnancy with a 5-week gestation period. I don’t think that has ever happened… but she likes to do everything better than everybody else, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
Anyway, back to the boardwalk… click through for some more photos.
I’ve been trying to find more textures in nature lately, so here’s a piece of driftwood that I liked…

Gretchen got a kick out of using my camera for a minute…

I don’t know what the deal was with this Goose…

Gretchen pointed out these muskrats that were “playing in the water” near the boardwalk… I didn’t have the heart to tell her that they were mating. That’s what the Discovery Channel is for, right?

This is a composite I put together in photoshop… it’s actually 15 vertical photos stitched together that make an (almost) seamless panoramic. I’m working on a more abstract version right now that I might share depending on the results.
