Sorry for the grainy photo... the camera in my phone sucks. Really bad. A group of us went out for drinks last night at a place called McBrody's in downtown Joliet. It was a pretty cool bar... great music selection, not too loud, and they had Stella on tap.

Pizza

I ate a piece of rubbery crust that was sold to me as pizza this morning and a group of us went to Giordano's for some stuffed pizza at dinner and it made me remember this screenshot I wanted to post like a month ago. I ordered pizza from Domino's a while ago and thought their online pizza tracker was pretty neat. It tells you when someone is preparing your order, when they place it in the oven and when it's ready to pick up... all in almost real-time. Pizza tracking is fun. If it's not the reason the internet was invented ...

State Baseball

I'm writing this blog from our luxurious room in the Super 8... I am in Joliet right now shooting Tuscola in the IHSA state baseball tournament. They lost the game against Marissa 10-2. I still don't understand baseball after a full season of covering the sport, so I can't critique anyone's performance or anything... I leave that to the experts. The light at the beginning was nice -- cloudy, but bright... no shadows... but then it kept getting darker and darker and then the rain came. Yawn

This little guy had been walking around with his family looking for food along the shore of Lake Decatur but then decided he wanted to take a little break. I don't know if geese yawn, but that's sure what it looked like. I love baby geese... but they get pretty annoying when they grow up. Kind of reminds me of human babies.

Fun Stickers

Memorial Day

Things were pretty hectic last week with my boss on vacation, but I wanted to take a chance to say 'thanks' to all of my friends and family members that have served (or are serving) our country in the armed forces. This is a photo of the tombstone of Joseph Athons,Â a Civil War veteran buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur.

Ten Years

So... ten years ago today I was blown up. If you didn't know that, ask me about it sometime. Chances are you've heard all of my bizarre fake stories about my ear & shoulder. I've used gang-fights, dog attacks and, my favorite, the incident with the bear at the circus. Sometimes all of them, no matter how bizarre, sound a little more believable than being blown up during a church service. The News-Gazette did a story about the anniversary, which was weird. It's not up on their site yet... will update with a link after track if it makes it online. ...

Blinded

Just a warning for anyone in a 50-mile radius from Charleston... I'm wearing shorts today. People in the affected area are advised to wear sunglasses or other forms of eye protection and never make direct eye-contact with my legs. Seriously... my legs are almost the same color as my socks. Hopefully they soak up some color today while I'm shooting track.
