I drove around for a while with all the windows down and my sunroof open just because I could. I guess I could have done that all winter long, but today was actually enjoyable.

On Obama," "Raining McCain," "Hillary, Be My Best Friend" ... the list goes on and on. This "Rocky" parody is great. It might be even better if you have seen any of the movies in the series, which sadly, I have not. I watched part 6 of the John Adams miniseries on HBO last night. Back then they didn't have YouTube or the internet to voice their opinions... they had to wrote write a letter to the newspapers. Can you imagine how boring things were ...

04.15.08Needs More Whiskey
General (0)I photographed some women this afternoon making desserts for an upcoming church dinner. I've heard of using wine or beer for cooking, but I'd never seen anyone use whiskey before. Apparently it's the secret ingredient in their cookies... that or they were all getting hammered in the church kitchen. Who knows.

General (0)I have been wanting to start waking up earlier for a while now, I just have never had the motivation to do it. Normally I would stay up until around 4 or 5 a.m. and sleep until around 11 or noon. That always seemed to work fine when I had a roommate with the same hours or when I lived in a college town where things were open late or 24 hours. That doesn't work so much with my sleeping wife in the small town of Tuscola. I think things shut down before dark here. It's a little bit past 8:30 ...

General (0)Mal and I actually got to spend a whole weekend together... I think it may have been the most time we have spent together since the honeymoon. My shift ended early (for me) on Friday, so I met up with Mallory and her co-workers at the Tumble Inn in Champaign for a going away party for somebody in her office. After I had a few drinks we ended up going to IHOP with Sara and Phil. 04.12.08Anybody Analyze Dreams?
General (0)I had an odd dream last night. I can't even imagine why I would be dreaming about these things, but if anyone out there analyzes dreams or has one of those fancy dream books I'd be interested to hear some thoughts. The setting was a large room, like a ballroom or a huge meeting room at a hotel. Big enough to have a stage. General (2)I was going to say 'Yikes!' about standing along railroad tracks as a speeding freight train whizzes by, but then I saw this photo and I think the yikes goes to either one of my chins, my dark eyes or wrinkly forehead. I'm not sure which one to hate more. How does my wife let me go out in public like this? UPDATE: I always look like this. Anyway... General (3)Back in the stone age when I was the online editor at the Daily Eastern News I always used to read everything before hitting the final publish button at night. Apparently that is one thing from the old days that is no longer observed. I don't normally feel the need to call out the student paper from my old school, but I'm tired and cranky and this was just ridiculous. General, House (2)We made an offer an a house today... and I can't stop thinking about it. I used to just toss the Menard's or Lowe's ads out on Sundays, but now I'm going through looking at everything from outlet covers to paint to tools to siding to landscape edging to lumber. I can't wait for the first time I get to mow our yard or paint one of our rooms in our first home. Growing up in Danville threw my preconceptions on home prices a little out of whack.
