I got to shoot a couple of portraits of Jon Griffin, a local artist, Friday who does some pretty cool work. His color really reminds me of Jay Ryan, who I wrote about earlier.
I found the method very interesting… he sketches something out on paper with permanent marker, scans it into a computer and adds color with photoshop. I suppose it is similar to the way comic strips are made, but I don’t know for sure.
His young daughter (I’m guessing five or six) sat in the corner and doodled in her notepad the whole time I was there photographing her dad… it made me smile. On the drive back to the office I thought about how great it would be to see my child following me around with a camera. Who knows if it will happen… they could just as easily sit and read all day like my nerdy wife.
