02.19.08Turn your head and cough
General (0)I know almost nothing about wrestling... but I think the Geneva Conventions make this move illegal. If waterboarding is illegal this definitely should be as well. I don't know which part is worse... the hand that is grabbing or the forearm that is spreading. To any wrestlers that may read this, is this something you practice? Do you at least buy dinner at the end of the day as a "hey, sorry I grabbed your balls" kind of thing?

02.17.08IHSA update
General (0)The only thing the IHSA did right was lunch... and I didn't even have to sign away my eating rights to have one! I ended up sweet talking one of the ushers who ended up letting me have almost free roam of the stands instead of shooting just from the seat we had a ticket for. Several people that I talked to were aware of the IHSA stuff after reading about it in their local papers. Everyone I spoke with seemed to agree with us and our decision to shoot in the stands... a few parents were mad at the paper(s) ...

General (0)I tried working this scene at state wrestling for a while to get something that I liked... this was the closest I could come away with. I don't know what exactly I was looking for, but I don't think this was it. Anyway... it's from the Grand March of Finalists just before the final matches.

General (0)I haven't shot wrestling for at least three years, and I've never done high school wrestling before... so shooting the state finals was kind of fun today. Even from the stands. 02.15.08Glamorous
General (1)More from my glamorous life... I got to shoot the cross-town game between Eisenhower and MacArthur tonight. I almost left my computer at work thinking I would have plenty of time to get back to the office to edit. Luckily, I brought it with me anyway... The game, which was a late game (7:30) to begin with, ended up going into double overtime, so I had to edit and send from my car. I like deadline pressure... but this was kind of nuts. General (1)Jeff sent me a link to barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com this afternoon. It spits out random sayings each time you click on the link... I don't know why I find it so amusing. Maybe because all we hear is campaign-related right now. 02.14.08Happy Valentine’s Day
General (0)I woke up yesterday morning to find our bathroom sink covered in Hershey Kisses and a card for me. I heard Mal doing something out of the ordinary during her morning routine, but I was too tired to get out of bed. Mal and I had our first Valentine's Day as a married couple a day early. I have to shoot basketball all night, so we decided to do it early since I had the night off. I'm usually not a huge fan of the holiday... it's a lot of pressure to be really romantic, and I usually don't do well ...
