I got my first experience with Tree Day with Mal’s family and the Moores Saturday. Usually I’m shooting state football, but things were different this year and I’m pretty sure Mal would have divorced me if I couldn’t make it this year.
Mal and I found our tree pretty quick… not so much for the adults. I don’t have the expertise for trees, so they all looked about the same to me.
Kim and Steve picked one of the biggest, most awkward trees at the tree farm so they had it wrapped up to protect the finish of the new door Steve had just put in. We thought we heard a few cracks and snaps while they were wrapping it, but thought it would be OK.
Nope.
When the guys set it up and cut the wrapping open branches started falling out all over the room. I seriously think we could have made a few small trees with what fell out of the big tree.
So the adults (minus Mal’s mom) went back to exchange it for a whole tree and things went better after that.
The guys showed me how to do lights and put the trees into stands. Kim tried to show me how to add “depth” to a tree by hanging a few hundred ornaments per square foot of tree.
After the tree was set up and decorated everyone ate and played cards. And yeah, Mal and I won our games.
Despite the girls being sick and the broken tree, I had a good time.
I brought my camera along, here are a few shots from the day that I liked.

Mom really liked these. I copied and sent it to her. Thanks for taking such great pictures and bringing joy to others! And, by the way, depth is a good thing!
I had a blast… looking forward to making it to next year’s tree day.
