General (3)[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uONFCvjbIF8] Thought I'd share this commercial with Tony Romo that I saw today while the Colts game was on. Yeah... I was watching the Colts game. I had to watch somebody win today. Sigh. Speaking of commercials, Mal and I are in a commercial for the Fall Bridal Fair 2007. It's on the Champaign ABC (WICD) station. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it's awesome because we're in it.

09.29.07On the road again
General (0)0929 Map, by grizzly_lightning I'm packing my bag and camera gear right now to hit the road for Danny and Stephanie's wedding this afternoon in the northern part of the state. Mal has to work, so Eric and I are having "boys night out" as he called it. I'm still feeling tired after last night's game, but I'm excited to watch Danny's last moments of freedom. I'll post a few photos from the wedding/reception later tonight or early tomorrow morning... depends on how much I drink.

Poulter always used to say "when you have a good photo turn around and you'll find a better one." during his photo classes. This may not be better for my assignment, but it's the only photo from the night that I'm close to being happy with. General (3)0927 Window-SH, by grizzly_lightning Mal and I are on totally opposite work schedules right now. It kind of sucks. She has to leave the apartment around 6:30 in the morning, I don't get home until about 11:00 at night. I think we've been around each other, both awake, for about 15 minutes so far this week. When she went to bed last night I told her to wake me up when she got up so I could see her for at least a few minutes. Ugh... I immediately regretted that decision this morning. Luckily, I did get out of bed and saw her ...

General (0)I just did a backup and upgrade on my servers... everything should be in working order. Sorry for the none of you that were looking at this between 6:30 and 7:30 this morning. If you come across any problems on the site, let me know. Lets hope switching to the new servers later this week will be this easy.

General (0)I got to shoot a candle light memorial service Wednesday night for a high school English teacher that died last week. I haven't shot a news assignment since I've been back from the honeymoon, and haven't shot something sad in months. I won't lie... it was tough. Watching the way the students and staff at the school interacted with each other was something that you rarely see... for those moments they were standing there outside the school as equals to mourn the passing of a life, not as teachers and kids. General (1)0925 Hands-SH, by grizzly_lightning It's not everyday you get to shoot indoor volleyball with a 300 at ISO 200, 250 at around f8. For those of you that don't know what that means, haha. For those of you that do, we have access to eight strobe heads on a pocket wizard mounted in the catwalk of the Griswold Center at Millikin. That's a gym that is a little smaller than Lantz "Arena" at EIU. My jaw dropped when I did my test exposures before the start of the game. The sports desk played a few photos pretty well in print. General (2)0114 Laundromat 04-SH, by grizzly_lightning I just finished reading a little blurb on MSNBC that said Wal-Mart announced they will sell only concentrated forms of laundry detergent in their stores. Good call. Wal-Mart said its stores account for 25 percent of liquid laundry detergent sales and that its effort will save 400 million gallons of water, 95 million pounds of plastic and 125 million pounds of cardboard. The company would also save fuel by transporting less mass. A lot of people take every chance to bash Wal-Mart... maybe I'm just the naive Midwestern boy that wants to have something to do at ...

General (0)0923 Max-SH, by grizzly_lightning I'm pretty happy with the pictures I shot during a volleyball game at Millikin tonight, but I'm too tired to go downstairs and out to the car to get them... so you get to see this picture of Max right now. He decided my dresser drawer looked like a good place to hang out for a bit Sunday morning and I snapped a quick photo before heading out for the day. I wish I could lay around the house and sleep all day... I have friends that are trying it, but I don't think it's working out too ...
