  0824 12-SH, by grizzly_lightning I'm starting to get really antsy now. My bachelor party is in five days... the wedding in 12. I work up through Friday night and then I'm off for 17 days. I don't think I have been off for more than four days, maybe five since I started working in high school. It's kind of crazy. I actually thought about doing a photo essay here in Tuscola next week on my days off... we'll see. I might not. Danny gave me the idea, so I should probably let him roll with it.   0824 14-SH, by grizzly_lightning I got to shoot my first-ever Friday night football game last night. Mattoon High School played at Eisenhower High School in Decatur and kept the scoreboard active in the 37-7 game. I'll have one more week of football next week and then I'm off for a while for the bachelor party, wedding and honeymoon. The weather should be nice and cool for the next game I'll shoot, which is September 21, a.k.a. the first day of Autumn. It's also my birthday, a.k.a. the day God perfected things.

  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXKKtATfASY] Jeff sent me a link to this video tonight. I think he's trying to tell me that birdwatching, one of my millions of hobbies, is boring. I hate to admit it, but this video is pretty true. Since high school, my hobbies have included playing guitar, birdwatching, hot air ballooning, fishing, bike riding, hiking, tennis, collecting antique cameras, furniture-making, whittling, magic and probably others that I'm not thinking about right now. In my defense, I still do most of these things... I just do them in shifts -- if that makes sense. And Mal should be glad that I'm not a collector ...

  0821 Matt 03-SH, by grizzly_lightning I got to visit Matt for a little while I was in Lincoln for an assignment Tuesday afternoon. His mission was to find a number for my countdown. We found 15 while in the courthouse in downtown Lincoln. Thanks Matt!

  0818 16-SH, by grizzly_lightning So up until this past weekend I had no idea what a cakewalk was. Apparently it's like musical chairs, except no chairs or music. And you get a cake if you are standing in the right spot. I'm still kind of perplexed by the whole thing, but here is space 16 in the cakewalk circle.

  Fun day

  0822 Haas-KH, by grizzly_lightning I had a pretty good day today. I got to ride around in a tractor, drive a combine, hang out at a dance studio and ride along with the Decatur Police Department for a shift on their bike patrol. Not too shabby. Days like today make up for those days when nothing seems to work out right. I know absolutely nothing about farms, so this Farm Progress Show is going to be a blast. I've learned a lot already...   Lincoln visit

  0821 Matt 02-SH, by grizzly_lightning I got to spend a couple hours on assignment in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon and thought I'd pay a little visit to one Mr. Matt Williams. He showed me a little piece of Illinois history, helped me with a project and gave me a tour of his office. I don't get to see this guy as often as I'd like, but I want to fix that soon.   I got Max some catnip toys this evening. I'd take a picture of the delusional state he is now in, but I don't think he'd sit still long enough to get a decent photo of him. That, and the fact that I fried another shutter tonight. I'm only going to touch my camera when I absolutely have to. We better get some new equipment soon... my repair bills are going to be the same as all new gear anyway.
