0816 08-SH, by grizzly_lightning I know it's a couple weeks old, but this painting of a flaming 8-ball in the window of the old bowling alley had to go somewhere. Luckily for everyone, the building will be torn down soon, and the 8-ball from Hell will be no more.

Midget Car

0830 Saturn-SH, by grizzly_lightning I parked next to a giant combine today during the last day of the Farm Progress Show. My car is about the same size as the tires. One of the guys manning an exhibit told me that this is the "pup" of the company, that I could probably drive right under some of their bigger combines. I still don't know much about farming, but I do wish I could drive one of these things for a couple weeks out of the year.

0830 09-SH, by grizzly_lightning Nine days left... it's starting to feel a little weird. I have one more day of work left... a couple news assignments and a football game in Tolono. Once I get home I'll throw some clothes in a bag, sleep for a couple hours and then get up to ride down to Memphis for the bachelor party. I'm almost feeling bad about taking so much time off. My brain is starting to get back in the swing of things on a daily beat. Things are starting to click and now I'm taking more than two weeks off. Hopefully things ...

0828 Me-SH, by grizzly_lightning While my boss, Kelly, and I were editing photos at work yesterday he told me we needed a "hot" photo for a story in the next day's issue. I pulled up this photo and said "Here's something hot." I don't think it was what he had in mind.

Bigwigs

0829 Buttons-SH, by grizzly_lightning I got to be around quite a few political/financial bigwigs today. It was 95 degrees today, so many of them were dressed casually. Alexi Giannoulias wore jeans and a polo shirt, Pat Quinn wore a suit without the jacket and his shirt sleeves rolled up, the local guys all had on khakis and polo shirts. But one of them, a U.S. Representative that will remain anonymous, was a little daring... he had two buttons unbuttoned on his dress shirt with a gold chain resting in his old man chest hair. 0829 Roadie-SH, by grizzly_lightning I shot a concert tonight. I've never heard of these guys, but apparently Tracy Byrd and Tracy Lawrence are pretty popular. The only thing I picked up from the songs is something about a pickup truck, a dead dog and that the drunk bone is connected to the party bone. And here I thought a drunk bone was something college freshmen tried to hide at their first party in the sorority house...

0828 11-SH, by grizzly_lightning So I got sick last night and didn't get this uploaded in time. Cry me a river (that would make a good song title)... My clock radio says it's 11:04, which was cool for yesterday... 11 days until the wedding and 4 days until the bachelor party. Too bad it's late. Hopefully I don't die tonight and I can post a 10 on time. I also need to wipe off my dashboard and clock.

Eclipse

0828 Eclipse-SH, by grizzly_lightning No, not the nasty gum, but the celestial event. One good thing about getting up earlier than people should is that I got to see the lunar eclipse in the sky this morning. This double exposure is essentially two photos taken just seconds apart... one focused on the corn, the other on the moon. It's not a technique I use a lot, but there's really no other way around it. Oh well. I'll be out at Progress City USA on the edge of Decatur for the start of National Farm Progress Show for the next few days. Should be a ...

FACEBALL!!! Round 3, by Rev Dan Catt Jeff sent me this link a few weeks ago. I looked at it, laughed my ass off and then forgot about it because of my fruit-fly attention span. Luckily, I bookmarked the link for this crazy new game, Faceball, that was started by the gang that works at Flickr. From the official site: At its simplest level Faceball involves two people hitting beachballs at each other's faces.
