General (4)0722 Corn 02-SH, by grizzly_lightning If you had to guess (without cheating) and figure out what time this photo was taken... what would you guess? Sunrise? Noon? Mid-afternoon? What if I said midnight? The mix of clouds, a bright moon and a flashlight shining on the cornstalks made this 144-second exposure look like daylight. I'm still pretty baffled by it.

We went out to shoot star trails again Sunday night, but apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo. The moon was pretty bright for a half moon and the thin clouds were just thick enough to screw everything up. Oh well... I wanted to shoot something fun and I've been bombarded by the Sprint commercials all week, so I thought I'd try something similar. General (1)0720 Bentley 03-SH, by grizzly_lightning No, not Eric's dog... but a $170,000 car parked in between Tim's beat-up Camry and my 1997 Saturn in our parking lot at work. Who brings a Bentley Continental GT to Coles county and leaves it unattended? I'm not even much of a car guy and I still had to change my pants after seeing this thing. Eric and I stood outside for about 15 minutes taking pictures. People were giving us some weird looks... one lady even offered to pose on the car like a magazine model. That would have worked out great if she looked like ...

General (0)The White House The White house announced today that President Bush will have a long tube inserted up his rectum on Saturday. The White House also announced that President Bush will temporarily hand over power of the country to Vice President Dick Cheney. The president is having a colonoscopy, so I shouldn't make fun. Just remember while you are sobering up from a night of drinking, eating a bunch of bagels at Bagelfest or whatever else it is you do on a Saturday -- Dick Cheney is in control of your country. Scary...

General (0)0717 Fortune Cookie-SH, by grizzly_lightning I got this fortune cookie with my take-out earlier this week. The restaurant must have changed distributors, because this is a new brand of cookie. I was really hoping that the cute panda bear would deliver a message of fear and doom... it didn't. It was something along the lines of success and happiness. How cool would it be if you opened up the cookie and the cute panda said something like "You will die before sunrise" or "My neighbor thinks your wife is lousy in bed"? I should get a job writing fortunes.

General (1)0720 Free Air-SH, by grizzly_lightning I had to stop to properly inflate the tires on my car tonight on my way home from work. The "FREE AIR" label made me start thinking. How can places charge for air? They don't own the air. I guess they can charge you for the service of compressing it for you, but it still doesn't seem right. Besides... if I had $0.75 in my pocket, which sometimes is all I have, I would probably go to the station with "free" air and then run inside and grab a drink. It seems like shop owners would stand ...

General (0)0718 Hot Fresh-SH, by grizzly_lightning No... that's not my latest pick-up line, but I bet I could get it to work. If you spend any time with me (you totally should, I'm pretty awesome) you'll probably see me with a drink in my hand. I drink a lot of Coke... I'm slowly working on changing that to water. Anyway... Every time I go through the drive-thru at McDonald's I laugh when I get these "hot and fresh" stickers on my ice-cold Coca-Cola. I hope I never get a hot and fresh Coke. I really need to get a life.
