Just for Dad

I wish I had great photos of every bird I've seen, but this one is not... it's soft because I had to crop in on something that was about a half-mile away. Oh well. It was a neat bird to watch. Hansel

I got bored while doing laundry early Wednesday morning (late Tuesday, whatever you want to call it). This is a portrait of my little monster teddy bear hamster, Hansel. He's about the size of a small dog, especially compared to my old dwarf hamster. I didn't notice it while I was shooting the photos, but he is covered in little pieces of his bedding. Maybe I should give him a tub of bath sand. If he gets any bigger I might get him a leash and maybe a sweater. I think the washer just stopped... back to work...

I didn't go to bed until about 2, but I felt like I had slept for days. I almost went back to bed, but the golden light creeping through my blinds was a welcome departure from the clouds, rain and snow we've been putting up with for the past week or so. Beer Can

0415 Lake Charleston 097-SH, by grizzly_lightning (Click photo for more info) I'm not sure why this beer can is tied to this tree with a bungee cord, but I'm really curious about it. Is this some sort of hick trail marker? I found it on the east side of Lake Charleston early this morning... my first time in this area. Maybe I should have used a shoelace to tie my water bottle along the trail so I could find it again later.

Textures

It's kind of odd for me. If you know me well you know that I hate the feel of most textures. I don't like suede, microfiber, anything plush, anything slick or greasy, dirt, mud, sand... pretty much everything but skin and regular woven cotton. I've always hated texture (and maybe the lack of texture?). I used to get in trouble at school and day ...

New President

I was fortunate enough to spend some time with him before and after the big announcement. I got some pretty good portrait-type shots and some nice moments with EIU folks, but this photo is the only one that I keep coming back to in my head. Does anyone else think it's funny/odd that the university marked Perry's position to stand for the public meet and greet with a Panther? Isn't that like having George Bush stand on the American flag during his swearing-in ceremony? ...

0412 Racks-SH, by grizzly_lightning (Click photo for more info) I drove through McDonald's to get a drink this afternoon and noticed that our rack was empty. Is it wrong that the first thought that popped into my head was "Someone must have forgot to fill the machine this morning..."? Apparently my corporate brainwashing hasn't kicked in yet. Maybe someday I'll think "Gosh, look how popular our paper is today!!!" I've had a broad range of emotions about work the past four months... I started out the year pretty average, hated just about everything and everyone during February, got super excited ...

Farts in the library

Maybe I picked the wrong batch of videos to watch, but I wasn't that impressed with him. This was the funniest one that I watched. You can't go worng with a fart machine in a library. Maybe I'll dig a little deeper into his stuff this weekend and find something better. Oh well, to each his own. I'm guessing that not everyone in the world likes to watch, listen or read to what I like. They should.. ...

Birds or sleep?

0409 Blackbird 02-SH, by grizzly_lightning (Click photo for more info) So it's 3:00 in the morning... I should be in bed, but I'm wide awake right now. I've been planning to hike around to the northwest side of Lake Charleston to go birdwatching early in the morning, but sleeping in until noon is starting to look like an attractive option right about now. I went out to Marty's tonight with Eric, Brandon, Joe, Amy and Wills made an appearance. It was a good time... Since I'm probably going for the sleeping-in option, you get to look at this photo of a Red-Winged ...
