I should never be left alone with a camera when I’m bored.
First I take lit portraits of my hamster, now I’m taking random self-portraits with a pair of ski goggles Matt had laying around the apartment.
I really just wanted to play around with some off-camera lighting. I’m really starting to miss taking pictures of people with my camera. I love birdwatching and nature photography, but it’s not journalism.
Then again, neither is self-portraits with goggles.
On another non-journalism topic, I’m thinking about getting into senior portraits. I’m in the middle of scanning a thousand or so senior photos for our graduation section at work and let me tell you… there are some really bad photographers around here. There are a few good ones, but the bad-to-good ratio is killing me.
In my head, it makes sense. I’ll be able to take photos (which I love), make some cash (which I also love) and hopefully make some decent photos that could be included in a journalism portfolio. Newspaper/ magazine shooters have to take portraits all the time, why not get paid to practice that?
Now lets see what other fun things we have around the apartment…

Dude,
You just realized what newspaper photographers do to afford the nice car.
If you get a senior pic from a gal from Windsor, lemme know whatcha think. I did one from Windsor last fall.
Windsor turned all of theirs in on CD, but those weren’t the bad batch… which one was yours?

Danielle Harl was mine. I got lucky in being able to make her senior portraits. Her mother saw her husband’s son( did you get all that?!?) senior portraits that I made and cancelled their appts at Lake of the Woods and called me. She was a hoot to work with.

That one is nice… exposed properly, in focus, clean background. That’s crazy!

Which one did the submit? I spent about 2 hours with her and she was a blast!!! BTW: When does that come out? I’m going to come up there and get a copy.
I’m not sure when it comes out, but don’t waste your gas coming up here… It was a tight shot on the face that we cropped to a postage stamp size. If you really want a copy of the page I can get one to you.
Let me know.
