No Power, No Problem

Candle and Liquor ? January 1, 2007 // Danville, Ill.

We had some nasty storms roll through around dinner time on New Year’s Eve. Some of the storms were bad enough to make the lights flicker back home in Charleston. In Danville, where Mal and I were staying, the power went out completely from 6-something p.m. until about 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

We were able to party the night away with lots of candles and lots of liquor… I had a great time, especially since Chris was there.

Jordan and Nick went to Wal-Mart and bought a power inverter for the car so we could at least power the TV and Playstation all night for some Guitar Hero action.

It was funny to see the extension cord running through the living room, out the front door, across the porch, through the driveway and into Nick’s car. I was almost expecting to see neighbors fighting for power like “Independence Day” or “War of the Worlds”. It never happened.
