Gerald Ford 1913-2006

I don’t remember the Gerald Ford White House… probably because I wasn’t alive for it.

The only thing I remember is a SNL sketch from 1996 with Dana Carvey impersonating Tom Brokaw. It has always been one of my favorite sketches.

I think Gerald Ford’s death would hit me a little harder if I was alive to remember his presidency. I remember Reagan… and it hit me as a death.

Gerald Ford, to me, is like that fifth cousin that you see in the background on old family reunion videos. You hear stories about them, but you have no idea who they are or the kind of person they might be.

From everything I’ve heard about Gerald Ford today, I wish I had memories of someone like him in Washington today.

At least he wasn’t mauled by a circus lion in a convenience store.
