The Band (sort of) / December 23, 2006 // Danville, Ill. I went home last weekend for Christmas and took some photos for Jordan and Jason's band, Fessenden. This was my first time meeting 60% of the band. I think these guys are pretty cool. I'm looking forward to working with them more and getting my hands on their CD. Screech Owl / December 15, 2006 // Newton, Ill. We found this Screech Owl sleeping in a wood duck nesting box along the side of the road south of Newton, Ill., during the bird count on the 15th. I held on to these photos because I couldn't publish them before they appeared in the paper... now I'm way behind. Anyways -- this guy was dead to the world. After looking for weeks for a naked tree to use as a photo for my sister's Christmas present I found this on the side of the road just north of the Coles county line on Route 45 last week. I think it works... it's better than the boring one I already had.

Gerald Ford Clipping / May 10, 1974 // Charleston, Ill. OK, no matter who the vice-president is, it should be kind of a big deal when they visit your town, right? Gerald Ford, who was then the vice president, visited Charleston on May 9, 1974, and spoke at Eastern. I thought it would be neat to go through the microfilm and see what all we had from that day. I don't remember the Gerald Ford White House... probably because I wasn't alive for it. The only thing I remember is a SNL sketch from 1996 with Dana Carvey impersonating Tom Brokaw. Storm before the calm

Life has been kind of hectic the past few days... I tried and failed to switch to Mal's sleep cycle for the few days that she was here. Now, I'm just tired all the time. I'm in between states and my body feels like crap. Normally, the holiday season is really hectic for me. Graduation / December 16, 2006 // Charleston, Ill. I went to graduation ceremonies at Eastern over the weekend to watch Mal get her diploma... I'm used to covering the event and getting close to the stage to get photos, so why should this year be any different?
