Shoe / November 11, 2006 // Champaign, Ill. Photographers often have little tricks that help them keep track of things during a game. Some are fast enough to jot things down. I know several shooters who take lots of pictures of the scoreboard and game clock to keep track of things. I take pictures of my shoes. Black Bear / November 9, 2006 // St. Louis The only pictures I made this weekend were from the Illinois game, and I don't have any of them handy, so you get to look at this picture of a Black Bear at the St. Louis Zoo from Thursday afternoon. I brought Josh with me to the game Saturday... hopefully he had a good time despite the crappy weather. Lights - Camera - Shameful

Self-Portrait / November 10, 2006 // Mattoon, Ill. I set up my "ghetto studio" tonight so I could take a portrait for my boss at work tonight. Needless to say, I got bored and decided to play around. I should never be left alone with lights and a camera. I'm shooting the U of I game against Purdue in the morning and should be sound asleep right now, but I'm not. Big surprise. I haven't been able to sleep regularly the past couple weeks. Maybe I could think about something boring like the Indianapolis Colts or maybe Peyton Manning's team maybe...zzzzzz.

Drawing Skills / November 9, 2006 // Mattoon, Ill. I drew this picture tonight to try to explain to Hillary, who has never been to a zoo, what the bear pits looked like at the STL Zoo. She thought that all of the animals were kept in small cages like an animal shelter. I totally should have gone into art classes instead of journalism. I could have a pretty lucrative career as an artist with these skills. Maybe I should mail this to the guy in the infomercials that wants to make you a better artist.

Dollar Bill / November 9, 2006 // Charleston, Ill. Seeing how we just had an election and D. Rummy (my nickname for Rumsfeld) decided to resign the next day, I think it's fitting to share this dollar bill that I received in my change at Wal-Mart Sunday night. To clarify -- I'm not sharing the actual dollar with you, but some pictures and thoughts about the dollar. I've seen things written on money before -- phone numbers, dollar amounts, smiley faces, that Where's George project -- I've never seen a political message in my wallet. Taco Bell / November 6, 2006 // Charleston, Ill. This sign originally said "WE LOVE YOU MR. BELDING" during homecoming, but now Taco Bell is just trying to cheer everyone up. It's 5:47 in the morning and I'm just now getting home from work. I hate election week.

Lost Shoe / November 4, 2006 // Charleston, Ill. This shoe was sharing a tabletop with an ice water and the remains of a fried mozzarella stick during the dance at the Charleston Country Club. The matching shoe was under the table.
