Great Blue Heron / October 30, 2006 // Charleston, Ill.
I inched my way to within about 30 feet of a Great Blue Heron today at Lake Charleston.
Heron are usually pretty stand-offish, so I was really surprised that I got this close.
As much as I love birds and appreciate the beauty in detailed markings… this is an ugly bird.
