Chris and I went down to the Capitol building for a tour this morning. Our group was full of kids and it was our tour guide’s first “official” tour, so I was thinking that it was going to be a boring time. I was wrong.
Our tour lasted a little more than an hour, and only about two minutes of that was boring to me. That’s a pretty good ratio for me.
We got to ride on the underground train that services the Capitol building. I would have taken a few more pictures of it if it weren’t for the men standing with shotguns. No, not Dick Cheney, just Capitol Police.
One of the most interesting things to me was that the center of the building is also the exact center of Washington, DC… it blows my mind.
After the tour, Chris and I decided to go shopping in one of the “small” malls outside of DC. I was expecting something the size of Marketplace Mall in Champaign, but no… the small mall was four stories tall and had its own parking garage.
We laid around and finished up season two of Lost all night. I am officially hooked.
All my stuff is packed up and ready to head to the airport. I leave DC at 4:15, land in Detroit at 5:53 p.m. and then have a 3.5 hour layover before leaving for Indianapolis. It should be about 2 a.m. before I get back to Charleston… not too bad for me.
I’ll post a photo gallery of my trip sometime Wednesday afternoon.
