I walked around the National Mall in Washington, DC for about eight hours yesterday.
Wow.
Since this was my first time coming to DC, I didn’t really know what to expect. I am blown away at the size of the buildings and monuments and the amount of museums.
I also didn’t realize how big the Mall is… and my feet are being punished for it. I wore flip-flops all day and could barely feel my feet after the end of the day.
The best part of the museums… they are all free. I think I only spent about $10 yesterday, and that included my Metro ticket to get into the city.
I saw museum exhibits ranging from Custer’s last stand to the Swedish Chef on the Muppets… from Abraham Lincoln Tea (guaranteed to move your bowels!) to an exhibit on the attacks of 9/11/01.
I met up with Ryan, who was here on vacation at the same time, to do some of the sights yesterday. It was nice to see him and Karen.
I took about 500 photos from the time I got to the airport on Friday morning to the last amount of light last night. Unfortunately I forgot my card reader, and my cameraphone sucks, so you’ll have to wait until I get home Wednesday to see any photos.
The weather has been amazing, mid-to-high 80s with only a few clouds all day.
Chris and I are going to the zoo today and then going out with some of his friends. It should be a great time… I’ll write more later!
