General (0)The word 'shuttlecock' makes me giggle. I had got to shoot the state badminton finals this afternoon at Eastern. This was my first time shooting badminton, and hopefully my last. If you or someone close to you is ever abducted, and the terms of the release involve watching photographing a badminton tournament, having your face beat with a shovel, or wearing a ski mask full of bees... volunteer to wear the ski mask and have your face beat. 05.09.06Finally found him
General (0)Eastern Meadowlark / Tuesday, May 9, 2006 // Mattoon, Ill. For the past couple of weeks I've been driving around the country, peeking into the Douglas-Hart Nature Center and hanging out around the lakes trying to find Meadowlarks. Where did I finally find one? Next to a retention pond behind the movie theatre in Mattoon. Maybe he was there to see Mission Impossible III. Oh wait, nevermind. No one is watching that except for Scientologists.

05.09.06My girlfriend is awesome
General (0)Don't pay attention to my hair. Quick recap of the weekend... For our five-year anniversary, Mal got me a lot of chai, a set of coffee mugs and roundtrip tickets to Washington D.C. How cool is that? Now I get to go visit Chris. Mal and her roommates hosted their "end-of-the-year party" Saturday night. That was a lot of fun. Sunday was pretty laid back... hung out with Mal, did some cleaning/ laundry, nothing too exciting. OK, now I'm going to go plan my trip to D.C.

For some reason, I've noticed a lot of shoes laying around. If it was a pair, I could understand that someone was walking with an extra pair of shoes, sat down for a break, and then left without grabbing the extra pair. I'm sure stranger things have happened. 05.03.06The news doesn’t stop for the weekend
General (0)During my freshman year at Eastern, Dr. Voelz used to say "The news doesn't stop for the weekends" every day during his Journalism and Democracy class. I don't think I fully understood what he was saying until now. I think I've found a pretty good balance between my social and work lives, but sometimes the balance doesn't work the way I want it to. This past weekend was probably the last time I could get to hang out with a bunch of people that are graduating. I could have been partying with them, but I had to work.
