I’m starting to get a little nervous…
I found out tonight that I get to shoot a stem-cell transplant late Wednesday night in St. Louis, which is pretty unusual for a journalist to get into. (At least I’ve never heard of anyone doing it, but I’m fighting the urge to research it)
Now I’m getting into panic mode. I know it’s not going to happen, but I keep thinking of the Seinfeld episode with the Junior Mint. I don’t even like Junior Mints, but I’m still scared I’m going to drop one during the procedure.
Also, I can barely watch E.R. or Nip/Tuck without wincing… can I block out all that stuff while I’m shooting? We’ll see.
I am getting really excited about this project. I’m so thankful that Felicia and her family are letting me tell her story.
I have to clean all of my camera gear tonight. It’s going to get disinfected at the hospital tomorrow anyway, but I just want to do it two or three times more than I need to. I like to clean.
It’ll probably be a couple days before my next post, I’m going to be on the road a lot the next couple of days. I have to work Wednesday, leave a little earlier than normal to drive to St. Louis, hang out at the hospital until mid-morning, catch a quick nap, drive back to Mattoon and work all afternoon and night.
Ugh.
It will all be worth it in the end.
