I should get a job with Apple and do all of this stuff for them.
Just a quick macro setup at work tonight while I was waiting for some photos to come in… my new iPod earphones look pretty cool. I wish they fit as nice as they looked.
Sometimes I wonder how much money I could make working as a corporate studio photographer for places like Apple.
I suppose they could pay me minimum wage and I’d still be happier there than I am now. PLus I’d probably have lots of cool toys to play with.
I got into a big heated debate with the photogs at work today about building rapport, gaining access to emotional areas and working on creative ideas to illustrate stories. I don’t think anything I suggested makes any sense to them. Oh well… as long as my paycheck keeps coming, I’ll try to bite my tongue and keep doing things that most PTA newsletters would shudder at.
I got my hair cut today… I think this is the first time in a while that I’ve been happy with a haircut. Usually I have to catch the hairs that were missed or straighten up my sideburns or something.
I think I may have missed out on a great photo essay. We ran a story today about a 25-year-old girl from nearby Oakland that has Hodgkins Lymphoma. She loves talking to people to inform them about the disease… I bet I could have got great access to her treatments and recovery. The interviews were done a couple weeks ago, and now she’s in a hospital in St. Louis for her chemo treatments. Everything in the story just screamed “LONG TERM PROJECT” but no one planned anything for it.
She has a list of things to do before she dies… she makes scrapbooks for her 8-year-old son to have something to remember her by if something should happen to her… I’ve got to find a way to spend time with her over the next few months or longer. I don’t care if the paper runs anything… I just want to do a project like this for myself. I’ll get the photos published somewhere.
