I got a thank-you letter today from the photo editor of the Chicago AP Bureau. I've never got one from an editor before, so it felt pretty nice. Stephen, I need to say thank you for a job well done at the 2005 Illinois high school football championships in Champaign. Superb action and reaction throughout the two days of tournaments. Early resolutions

I wanted to post more tonight, but I got wrapped up with deep-scanning every nook and cranny of my computer. It's loaded with more than a gig of RAM, but it's still running really slow. So far nothing is turning up too suspicious. Oh well... I guess I just need to buy a Mac. I'm going to start my New Year's resolution early. Probably tomorrow (Dec. 1). I'm giving up fast food, pop (or soda if you want to call it that), and fatty foods. I'm also going to start exercising even more than I have been and hope to get ...

Who finally got a job?

Oh yeah. It's me. My one-day-a-week part-time job at the newspaper just turned into a full-time six-day-a-week (sometimes seven) job with a raise, 401K, insurance, 2 weeks of vacation time... So needless to say, I'm pretty happy. Now if you need to get a hold of me, I'll be at work from 3-11 p.m. Sunday through Friday. They will be hiring someone to do my old job soon, so then it will be Monday-Friday. Danny? You need a job on Sunday nights? I'm such a baby. I'm watching "The Biggest Loser" finale right now, and I think I've been crying about the ...

Origami Christmas Tree

A three-foot wide by three-foot deep by five-foot tall Christmas tree made entirely out of origami. A detail of the star on top. There was no glue, staple or tape used in this tree, just folded paper. So when I went in to work yesterday, I noticed a Christmas tree in the corner of the room. I didn't notice it was made entirely out of origami until I got a little closer to it. Ken, one of the photographers, made it. Being the Scrooge that I am, I don't want to give it any attention. Congratulations to Eastern's football team. Although they lost 21-6 today against Southern in the first round of the NCAA I-AA tournament, they went undefeated in conference and were the OVC champions. Congrats on a great season.

Football game + ADD = fun photos

It's good to win. It sucks to lose. It's OK to cry. I won't tell anybody. It's cool to shave your number into your head. Mohawks are OK too. Officials don't care if you are taking pictures of an interception, they're going to walk in front of you anyway. It's funny when they get plowed over. You can still paint yourself up when the wind chill is 8 degrees. My high school experience taught me that you can't be a Viking and win. Camoflauge doesn't work on the field. I still see you. Ready for some foosball?

It's 21 degrees right now, and the wind chill is down to 11, but I'm in a really good mood and ready for some football. I might not feel the same at the end of the day, but we'll see. Mal's mom made me coffee this morning. I think that's what made my day. The photo tent is pretty empty. Me, a cool guy from Moline and the U of I IT guy. But we all have seats right next to the heater, so it's nice. Time for game one. Enjoy your Black Friday...
