Meet the Fetus

So… this morning was one of the greatest moments I’ve ever had. Seeing this greyish-blob on the screen suddenly made everything seem real.

We had a checkup at the doctor today. Everything looks good with Mallory and the baby, which I am calling “the fetus” until we find out if it is a boy or girl.

I know it’s hard to see what’s going on in the photo above, but I bet trying to take a picture of something just a little bigger than a LEGO mini-figure through a woman’s innards is a bit harder than it looks. I have some of the latest photo editing equipment and software, but I can’t find the “Remove womb gunk” filter to try to make the photo any sharper. Sorry, that’s the best it’s going to get for now.

Mallory is in her 13th week, so the due date is still set for July 11.

We went browsing for baby things over the weekend… strollers and car-seats are so much cooler than what I remember me and my little sisters being pushed around in. Some of these things have better tires and upholstery than my car… pretty crazy.

Here are the other four photos from the ultrasound, pay no attention to the last one… it’s kind of scary looking. It’s reminds me of those 3D puzzles where you have to focus a few inches behind it to actually see what is going on. At first it looked like some kind of stunt double from Star Trek or something… but the more I look at it the more I see the Grateful Dead logo.

  • Looking good there Haas family !

  • Congrats again!!! The baby is so cute already. Jacob and I also got the crazy looking face pic when we got our 1st sono. You will be able to see features by the 32 weeks sono!!

  • YAY!! Looking good little one.. Yes the face picutes untill your little one is more developed looks a little weird. But believe me you will be able to see “it’s” eyes and if they have hair alreadying before you are finished.. Keeps us updated :o )

  • I say that last one looks like a mix of the grateful dead logo and a mars attacks alien. I’m sure ‘the fetus’ will be adorable though.
